I was born in a flat above 'Dodo's Bakery' in 1948. The staircase of 100+ steps led up to a 'cold-water walk-up'- a tiny living-space without hot water-central heating-or even a lavatory (which was just off the landing outside our front-door) Anyone else have memories of bombed-out North London in the 50's?
