The train entering New Southgate & Friern Barnet station is just passing the bricked up gate in the high wall then surrounding Friern Hospital. This gate was originally used for delivering materials into the hospital, by way of a turntable from the main line

Great picture!! I think it was 1976 when these 313 stock EMU's entered service, the beginning of electrification! up to Royston. Then later I think Royston to Cambridge.
