I was at Southaw School until 1961. To the left of this picture was Miss Littlechild's office with the nursing science block just behind and to the rear, which was my form room in the 5th year and Miss Clark the teacher. Next to Miss Littlechild's office was the art room and more to the centre of the school and below was the pottery room complete with it's own kiln.Until 1958/9 the boys occupied the front of the school but they then moved to Michenden at the top of Osidge Lane, Southgate.Until then us girls were at the rear of the building but we then took over the whole of the building. The toilets were on the right, and Miss Edwards the PE teacher occupied the sports room on the right of them. The school playground next to that and being at the rear of the school, there were sort of prefab buildings to te right of the school with the tennis courts to the rear and a large green behind them. At the back of the bulding was the assembly hall with a stage at the back and a green room above it.The main classrooms were on the 1st and 2nd floors my favourite teachers, Mrs McAdam taught history & Miss Williams. taught music, in those days was told I was pretty good at singing and did sing on my own in class & after assembly.I doubt if anyone remembers me it was so long ago.I think Elaine Bickerstaff/Paige joined the school just as I left. I do not reconize most of the teachers previously mentioned, perhaps they left about the same time as myself.
