Numbers 48 and 50 photographed in 2006. Number 40, on the left, has original sash windows, whereas its neighbour has modern UPVC windows and also Velux windows in the roof and the front garden has been converted into a parking space

No 50 is on the left. This was my grandparents house. It was next door to the Hampden Road exit from Muswell Hill garage. Mum who was never good at getting to work on time choose to work as a conductress at Muswell Hill garage in 1955 as it was next door and increased the chances of her being on time for work. We lived in Alexandra Road. My brother and I attended Hollickwood School just around the corner and went to my grandparents each day after school.

I also went to Hollickwood School in about 1950 then on to Holly Park Sec.Mod. I live in the flats in Alexandra Road - they were almost new then!!! My name was Evelyn Kent and I was born in 1943. I now live in New Zealand.

48 was the house I grew up in, from 1983 until it was sold in 2004. A lovely house – such a shame the bay window got turned into an ugly front door
