Old Coronation Cinema, High RoadThis New Southgate cinema opened in 1911, and closed in 1930. It was replaced by the New Coronation next door (see image number 108). The building was used as a powder puff factory in the 1950s and 60s.This view was taken shortly before demolition in 1970. (Colin Barratt Collection)

My Nan used to take in homework from the factory (was it called Helena's? ) I remember helping to put the puff on a hanky.

My mum and my aunts worked there and also did homework. I remember the smell of the glue they used and the little ribbons used on the puffs.
