In 1881 Mrs Eliza Wilson owned the Griffin No 3 High Road, and also The Green Man No 27 High Road, she held 64 acres of farmland, and was a horse dealer. No 12 High Rd Jemima Matthews and her 2 sons lived. At No 24 High Road. William Matthews, his wife,son and daughter, and 2 lodgers lived who were all farmhands possibly working on the land owned by Ms Wilson of the Griffin and the Green Man
