Just as I remember, and when it rained we used to sit in the shelter, which is just out of view in the picture. This picture was taken in the year which I was born so the equipment on view would be that which I played upon, "Fantastic"

Spent many happy hours playing here

I used to spend precious time walking to Friary Park with my grandad from South Road where we lived. I thought it was wonderful.

I loved Friary Park as a kid, so much space! I would roll down the big slope behind the bandstand, almost to the brook which was another spot for great adventures. Even as a teenager it became a favourite meeting place and on summer evenings we would sit around chatting until the bell rang to signal closing time.

My first memory is being held on the climbing frame as I tried to get high. I must have been 2-3 years old, the same year photo was taken. Many happy memories. Looking at picture I could remember where everything was. The summer show was wonderful. I came second in a fancy dress competition. Shame it’s a concrete skate park, but the lovely memories will always remain, not just with me
