Changing hut in the background

Comments:
The building in the background was the cafe run in the 1950s by the Bradshaw family

if I am correct, that is the club house not the cafe. The cafe is the next building up not in shot. They used to keep the lawn mowers and such in this, to the left, and the club house was to the right.

you're right changing rooms up the top by the cafe facing the running track, changed many a time there for a north met game. jim

The long building in the background is definitely Jim Bradshaw's café. I know because I was his son Michael's girlfriend at the time. The changing room is not in photo, it is on the other side of the running track according to my husband, who used it many times in the 1950s and 60's

I can say without a doubt that it isn't the cafe. I live here in the flats and am100 percent that I am correct. The cafe is not in shot. It also burnt down many years later too. The cafe is a much bigger building. My flat looks down on it. Sorry to correct you. This picture has been taken from where the tennis courts are looking towards beconsfield road. Where the golf course used to be.

Remember it well, played on that pitch many times for Oakleigh Rovers (c1968/9). Tennis courts further up to where pic taken by the park entrance

I also played for Oakleigh Rovers with Eddie Dension Eddie Newbury, (Colin Hitchins rip), Johnny Mann (rip), Terry Oakley, Roger Angus, Robin Vale and sometimes Ricky Punt when we were short we used to meet up outside a sweet shop oppisite the Rising Sun pub proper football in those days

I remember a lot of those names. Johnny Mann got me started with Oakleigh Rovers. Many a pint with Terry Oakley (he used to work for Express Motors). I lived in York Way so recall the sweet shop. Didn't we all go to Colin's CIU club as well?

Right again sadly the club has also gone. I think Brian was the one who used to be the secetery of Oakleigh - wore glasses
