The date for this photo is more likely to be 1969, or sometime between 1965 and 1971. In 1989 the 43 was an one person operated route having lost its routemasters in 1987. It also had been the longer RML since 1971 with a period of DM operation from 1975 to 1982.

Looking at this picture again and to correct my interpretation.The buses all have the later routemaster livery which was not introduced until 1974. Checking there was a standard routemaster allocation between Sept 82 and June 86 so this picture was taken during that period.
