Train derailment. On 17/7/48 the "Duke of Rothesay", LNER No.60508 A2/1 Pacific type, was derailed near the Brunswick Rd. bridge, New Southgate. The fireman was unfortunately killed. I remember, at the age of eight, being taken by my Dad, who worked at STC., to see this, so I may be one of the tiny figures in the background.
