THE BOY IN THE PICTURE MAY BE AN OLD SCHOOL FRIEND OF MINE FROM HOLLY PARK NAMED JOHN HUXTABLE. I AM DAVID BEDFORD
Added by DAVID BEDFORD on 04 August 2015
As mentioned elsewhere, I was a member of the Boys Club approx.. 1957 thru 1962, including 2 years as football team captain with Bryan Nunn as coach and the first Chairman of the Boys' committee and Geoff Cole a club leader. Years later in the 1970's I was approached and became Club Secretary, where Bryan Nunn(although he was owner/MD of the Budgeons/Williams Brother chain of supermarkets for his day job!) was still a driving force and Geoff Cole still on the leadership committee. Geoff and I still exchange Christmas cards - although we have not met for some 25 years+, especially as I have lived in Florida most of that time. On more than one occasion, during Boys Club Week, as Secretary, I had to meet and welcome Margaret Thatcher to the Town Hall - just before she became Prime Minister.

My dad (Len Davis) coached the football team in the late 60's early 70's. He worked as a driver for Williams Bros and chauferred Brian Nunn around too. Dad had access to the team minibus and when Brian wanted it, he swapped it with dad for his Jag (I remember the blue XJ6!). Dad stopped coaching the team around 73/74. I'm sure there are some pictures of old "Dinner Dances" the club had somewhere in the loft...

I played at FBBC in the late 60s. Andy, I remember your dad Len (our mini-van driver), great character and inspiration to us lads.
We had a decent team, coached by Peter Johnson. Every year we had a football celebrity present us with our trophies. I still have great photos of our team being presented by Alec Stock and Steve Perryman

I know your name John Sommerwill. Perhaps you knew my late ex-husband, Alan Kinchin who was a member of Friern Barnet Boys Club along with a number of his friends, too numerous to mention here. Pete Johnson was the football trainer in those days

I think I remember you Andy. Although I was a couple of years younger. I met up with Peter Feely a couple of years ago in Perth, Australia. Also, names from your year I think, Tony Keep, Richie Widmanski, Tony Cernis, Johnny Bruns. Brunsie introduced me to the club. Great days.
