I lived in the original Walfield House 1502 High Road from 1959-63, then aged 10-14yrs. The property, dating from the 18th century I believe, was owned by three elderly spinsters at the time, and my family occupied the upper floors. I think my Dad negotiated a reduced rent in return for handyman services which included repainting the entire exterior one summer using umpteen gallons of Snowcem brilliant white emulsion!
