In the postwar years part of the basement was also used by the Priory Amateur Dramatic Society. I enjoyed many a social and rehearsal evening as a teenager with this group, in cigarette smoke you could cut with a knife!! We also played table tennis. It was run by volunteer adults all of whom had served in one way or another during the war. My father was a fire watcher during the war, and was also a Labour councillor on the Friern Barnet Urban District Council for over 20 years. If the engravings are still there, his and other councillors' names are to be found in the entrance hall on ground level. Does anyone know if the list of names is still there?

The plaques that were in the entrance hall were removed to Hendon Town Hall when Friern Barnet Town Hall was sold off

Many thanks for the information as to the whereabouts of the plaques. It is good to know they were not destroyed. Do you happen to know if they are visible? I was just wondering about the dates for my father's service as a councillor; I know he did some 20 plus years but not the exact years (probably from the 1930s to the 1850s). Thanks for the website information already up.

As far as I remember the plaques are in a corridor on the first floor, where the meeting rooms are
